ADVANCING WOMEN IN LAW

18 NOVEMBER 2022

19PIER ONE SYDNEY HARBOUR

ABOUT THE EVENT

The prominence of women in the legal sector is underlined by the fact that there are more female law graduates than males leaving law school. With the percentage of women higher than ever before, more firms are implementing diversity and gender parity measures to ensure that female solicitors get equal chances to succeed. Research also shows the importance of having gender diverse teams and the relevance this has on clients and financial returns, yet where is the tipping point?

As we celebrate 100 years of women in the legal sector, the Advancing Women in Law event will look at how far women have come, where they are now and the direction the future is heading. The event will cover all areas of the legal industry including: the judiciary, the legal sector and corporate counsel. There have been some strong advancements for women in law yet there is still road to be paved for future growth into the next decade and beyond.

The importance of nurturing young talent, creating a culture of change and inclusion and strengthening pathways to leadership are essential. Setting goals and milestones are important, including: the eradication of sexual harassment; more female partnerships; more females as leading experts in their field and more. Building pipelines for the next generation of female leaders and reaching beyond the ceiling is crucial to achieve a gender neutral vision of the future.

Through the expert guidance of a strong advisory panel the Advancing Women in Law summit has been created to offer a power packed day of learning and networking. It is designed not just for women but for all who believe that gender should never be a hindrance to reaching one’s full potential or a challenge to leadership.
